State Police Sgt. OK After Head-On Crash With Car Witness Said Was Racing
Veteran trooper Edward Kressler suffers wrist injury from Hyundai involved in crash
His cruiser struck by a racing car, Mass. State Police Sgt. Edward Treseler, 54, was released from MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham following a 1 a.m. crash on Rte. 30 in Framingham this morning.
Treseler's cruiser was severely damaged but the veteran trooper suffered only a wrist injury. The West Roxbury resident was back in the Framingham State Police barracks this morning.
A witness told police that two men were racing at more than 70 mph on the undivided section of Rte. 30 when one crashed head-on into Tressler's near the Exit 13 entrance to the Mass Turnpike, Mass. State Police Commander Mary McGovern said.
Treseler, a State Police supervisor, had just assisted another trooper at a traffic stop near the Red Roof Inn on the Framingham-Natick line.
Alejandro Ramos, 27, of Framingham, was driving the Hyundai Tiburon involved in the crash with Treseler's cruiser. He is in critical condition at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Cdr. McGovern said.
The occupants of the third vehicle, a Honda Civic that the witness said was speeding but did not crash, were driver Falcaneri P. Fuentes, 31, of Framingham, and passenger Yenci Pineda, 19, of Framingham, McGovern said. They were not hurt, she said.
Neither driver was arrested. Neither had a driver's license, McGovern said. She said both will be summonsed for operating to endanger, speeding, marked-lane violations and operating without licenses.
