Police Log: Drunken-Driving Arrest, Dog on School Grounds

Wednesday, Dec. 28
9:50 a.m.: A resident complained about someone walking their dog on school grounds on Hayden Rowe Street. An officer asked the dog walker to move along.
11:05 a.m.: An officer found a disabled motor vehicle on West Main Street. The person was all set.
12:52 p.m.: A Spring Street resident called to report a telephone pole down with wires tangled in branches. Hopkinton police notified NStar and Verizon. NStar was on the scene an hour later to clean up and requested a detail worker.
12:20 p.m.: A caller from a Main Street store reported that someone took items without paying for them.
1:14 p.m.: A police officer went with the Fire Department to a fire alarm activation on East Main Street.
6:01 p.m.: An officer assisted the fire department with a low wire.
10:00 p.m.: A caller reported that a deer on Clinton Street had just hit him. An officer checked the area but could not find the deer.
10:21 p.m.: A caller from Alexander Road reported that a car had hit a tree. The caller was unsure if anyone was hurt. When the police arrived the driver left the scene. Eventually officers found Brian Robert Murphy, 18, of 7 Joseph Rd. Hopkinton, and charged him with speeding, drunken-driving, improper use of a mobile phone and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
11:54 p.m.: A caller reported that they saw a man dragging a woman out of a car near the state park on Forest Lane. The caller gave the police a partial license plate number and a description of the vehicle. An officer checked the area and could not find anything. They eventually got in touch with a male owner of a matching vehicle who said he dropped the woman off in Ashland. They spoke to the woman and she was all set.
