5 Things You Need to Know Today: Jan. 6
Looking for some conversation fodder in Hopkinton today? Maybe you could talk about the library expansion plans or the Hillers basketball team.
Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.
1. The Superintendent will be submitting two statements of interest to the Massachusetts School Building Authority. This was discussed and voted on at the joint meeting Wednesday night between the Board of Selectmen and the School Committee. One of the statements identifies the problems at the Center School, the other focuses on the Elmwood School.
2. The Hopkinton Public Library Foundation will begin fundraising for the renovation of the library this month. The foundation was formed in September of this year after the vote to approve the new library plans passed in May.
3. The Hillers basketball teams will be playing Millis tonight. The boys’ team, with a record of 1-4, will be home. The girls’ team has a record of 4-1 and will be away. This will be the first of two times the teams will play Millis.
4. Yesterday we asked you where your favorite spot to get a coffee in town was. Almost half of the respondents said they prefer to get their coffee at Hopkinton Gourmet. I will be spending some time there doing work during the late morning tomorrow, come swing by and I can introduce myself in person.
5. It’s been cold all week but today and tomorrow we should get a warm-up. Each day is supposed to reach temperatures into the 40s, tomorrow might even reach 50.
