5 Things You Need to Know Today: Jan. 27

Today at 10 a.m. is the funeral for Allison Lundy.

 

Our weekday morning column, 5 Things You Need to Know, provides you with information that can help you plan your day and give you some fodder for water cooler conversations.

1. Today is the funeral for Allison Lundy. Lundy was in fifth grade when she died last weekend after a battle with cancer. The funeral is at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist.

2. Last night the School Committee began their budget conversation in earnest. They heard feedback from over a dozen people about various aspects of the budget don’t want to see cut. Look for a full-length story about last night’s meeting at 8 a.m.

3. A note from Town Hall: petitioner’s articles are due to the Town Manager’s Office by Thursday, March 8 by 4:30 p.m. You can contact the Town Clerk’s Office at 508-497-9710 with information regarding submittal of petitioner articles. Also, a Petitioner’s Guide will be made available on line at www.hopkinton.org.

4. This weekend you have a chance to see one Hillers team in action at home. The girls’ basketball team will be playing Norton tonight at 6:30. If you’re interested in traveling to support the teams the boys’ varsity basketball team will be playing in Norton tonight at 6:30, the wrestling team will be competing against Nashoba Valley Regional High School tomorrow morning at 10, and the varsity ice hockey team will be playing against Westwood in Canton at 4 p.m. tomorrow.

5. Today is forecast to be the warmest day of the weekend but the rain may prevent you from enjoying it. The high is predicted at 52 degrees, through the weekend we should see a clear up, with highs reaching the upper 40s.
